“We’re on the finish line right now [in negotiations]. It’s going to happen [the deal will be signed]. Something terrible would have to happen for this fight not to take place on July 11. It’s very close to that,” Helwani stated on his show, *The Ariel Helwani Show*.

McGregor, who last competed in mixed martial arts in July 2021, suffered a technical knockout loss (due to a leg injury) in the first round of UFC 264 against former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier. The Irish star holds a professional record of 22 wins and six losses.

Holloway, 34, made his professional debut in September 2010. The Hawaiian, known as “Blessed,” boasts a record of 27 wins—14 of which came by stoppage—and nine losses in MMA competition.
