Holger Rune has become the latest top player to pull out of Roland Garros, joining Jack Draper and Carlos Alcaraz on the sidelines due to injury.

The 23-year-old Danish tennis star has also decided to skip the ATP tournament in Hamburg, which starts later this week, after suffering a minor setback during his rehabilitation from an Achilles tendon injury. Rune initially hurt the tendon last year at the Stockholm Open.

In a statement from his team, Rune said: “I was really looking forward to competing in Hamburg again, and as you all know, I love clay courts. Paris and Roland Garros have always been very special to me, so this was not an easy decision. But for me, it’s not just about playing a few matches—it’s about being able to compete fully in the whole tournament. I don’t want to feel almost ready; I want to be at 110% when I return.”

The decision came after a small flare-up during his rehab, specifically reported as “an irritation in the knee during explosive and plyometric work.” This forced the team to proceed more cautiously in the final stages of recovery, delaying his overall timeline by a few weeks to avoid unnecessary risks.
