Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick has confirmed he has reached a verbal agreement to extend his contract with the club until 2028, even though the club has not made an official announcement yet.
“I am very happy, and what I have achieved gives me the confidence to stay for one or two more years,” the German coach stated, confirming the verbal deal to continue leading the Blaugrana.
Flick, 61, added, “For now, I have until 2028. If everything goes well, we will extend it further. It was an agreement for both sides. I am in the right place to reach the highest level and win new titles. Everyone dreams of the Champions League. We have tried and we will keep trying. I am grateful for the trust to continue.”
**Season-End Goal**
Beyond his own deal and following the La Liga title celebrations, the German tactician analyzed the remainder of the season, where he has a clear target: “To reach 100 points. To do that, we must win the remaining three matches.”
Therefore, he will not heed calls to field an all-La Masia starting XI. To achieve that mark, he would need to give Kochen a start in goal. But Flick was clear: “He will not get minutes. I respect him, he gives everything, but Joan is the number one, and Tek [Szczesny] is the second. If we change anything regarding that, it will be for Tek.”
Flick also avoided committing on the renewal of Robert Lewandowski or the continuity of Marcus Rashford. “Marcus’s numbers are good. And Robert, what can I say? I have won titles with him and I am proud to be his coach. I give thanks for having such an incredible player. But, as I said, we will analyze everything at the end of the season.”
