Rod Brind’Amour, head coach of the Carolina Hurricanes, shared his thoughts on the team’s advancement to the Eastern Conference Final after defeating the Philadelphia Flyers 4-0 in the second-round series, with a 3-2 overtime win in Game 4. The Hurricanes will face the winner of the Buffalo-Montreal series, currently tied at 1-1 after two games.
“This is a huge accomplishment. We need to enjoy this moment right now. The season is very long. There are 82 games in the regular season, and the team has played well over the entire eight months. We don’t get enough credit for that, but we played that way every night, not just picking up steam at the end. That’s what I’m most proud of,” Brind’Amour said.
“And here we are, in the conference final. Now we have to find a way to take the next step. And that’s clearly easier said than done,” he added.
Carolina has reached the Eastern Conference Final for the fourth time in eight seasons under Brind’Amour’s leadership. Previous appearances ended with a combined record of 1-12.
